To Lib: I did a little searching for you. I didn't find a Floyd Devenport, Davenport or Deavenport anywhere else except in the 1850 Greenville Co. S.C. census that you mentioned. The lack of census information for him makes me think that he either changed the spelling of his first or last name, or died shortly after the 1850 census. I did, however, find many other Devenports in Greenville Co. that same year, possibly they are related to him. They are Edwin, Francis, Isaac, John, Washington, William and Willis. I would suggest you write to the Greenville County Library, 300 College St., Greenville, S.C. 29601, if you haven't already. There were also a large number of Devenports in Newberry and Laurens Counties, you might try the Laurens Branch of the South Carolina Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 1217, Laurens, S.C. 29360. I didn't find a chapter in Newberry County, you might try to find a public library there and ask them. Greenville, Laurens & Newberry Counties all adjoin one another, it's very possible that your Floyd's family were in those areas. Sorry I couldn't find more, I hope this helps you. MargoBelle
