Summary…her grandfather was James Davenport who settled in Hanover Co., Va. and later came to Ga. settling in Oglethorpe Co. James Davenport and Dicy Canady were married 29 Nov 1785. James Davenport was born April 29, 1759. Dicy Davenport, his wife, was born June ___, 1759. Jouett Davenport, son of James and Dicy, his wife, was born Dec. 12, 1786. William Davenport, son of James Davenport and Dicy, was born September 8, 1796. By these records you see (which I have always known) that James Davenport was married but once. Jouett and William were their only children, though about ten years difference in ages. James Davenport served in the Rev. War, was wounded in his ankle in the battle of Brandywine and crippled for life, was never well, but lived until the 8 June 1824, aged sixty-five. Dicy Davenport died 11 November 1835. Jouett Davenport, my uncle, married Susannah Hewell. My father William Davenport married Elizabeth Sydnor Andrews 10 Dec 1818..
