Hello All, Found an entry in a book of religious newspaper entries in South Carolina. This entry created more questions than it answered. Can you help? "The Working Christian", Issue Jan 27, 1870 By Rev. A. C. Stepp, Tuesday evening, Jan 11th, 1870 at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. Cecilia Vance, Mr. Ira Davenport, and Mrs Ellist Chandler, both of Greenville, SC. I assume this announces the union of Ira Davenport and Ellist Chandler. Was Ellist a widow of a Chandler and thus her maiden name is Vance? These lines cross over a couple of times. Any info welcome.
