    1. Re: [DAVENPORT] Complete Book Of Imigrants
    2. Hi Mary, I believe that my Davenports came in along that Carolina coast near Albermarle Sound. some of the counties that touch that area today are Washington, Tyrrell, and Dare on the southern side of the sound. Southwest of Washington Co. is Pitt County. The first Davenport I have any record of is William Davenport, born Pitt County, NC June 15, 1755. This William served in the Revolutionary War and raised his family in Lenoir County, NC He also died and is buried in that county. I think all of his children but one stayed in Lenoir County or close by. His first born son was named Allen Davenport. Allen came to Georgia and married Martha Ann Hawthorne and raised his family in Steward Co., GA. Allen was my great-great-grandfather. I wish we could find out who the parents of William might be, also who he married. In his application for his Rev. War pension there is no mention of a wife or children but since it was about 1832 I know the children were all born and mostly grown and I assume his wife had already died. Sure wish I knew more about him. If you learn anything, let me know, please. Sandy Lunsford
