Help! What does this mean? Doc once wrote: "Richard Davenport (of Absalom) and his bride Jenny Baker were living on land in Cumberland County that had come to Richard by his marriage to Alice Cannifax. On May 25, 1801 Richard Davenport and Jerman Baker, as a tax unity, were ordered by the Cumberland Court to list their taxable property with the Cumberland Commissioner of Revenues." Jerman Baker was an attorney and was not related to Jenny Baker. He lived in Richmond with his wife Martha Bolling Eppes. So what could he be doing as a "tax unity" with Richard? I'd welcome your thoughts on the subject. Jo Lynn
