My ggg grandfather was John Baker, he had a son John Baker b. abt 1774 who m. Sarah Alpha and Chloe McIntosh. Our question is about the first John Baker born in 1750's. We thought he could be John son of Thomas Baker and Dorothy Davenport. We have written accounts that John had a brother David and one William. Thomas and Dorothy do have sons by those names. However, John's son John Baker does not match the one you have because you say he married Martha Frazier and ours was married to Sarah Alpha and then Chloe. Our John b. abt 1750 according to family notes went to Kentucky where his son lived and remained there until his death. He was killed by two Negro slaves, according to a grandson, Issac Baker. (Interview by John J. Dickey 1898) Our John b. 1750's was a Captain in the Rev. War. I have seen many accounts where John Baker b. 4 May 1758 was married to Nancy Norfleet, but this does not seem to be the John b. 4 May 1758. Do you know anything about this account? Sorry, this is so confusing....it has been very confusing to us too. If you have any information which would help confirm that he is a son of Thomas and Dorthy or even that he was not would be appreciated so much. We cannot go forward until we make this link. Thanks. Judy
