1. [DAVENPORT] First Davenport DNA results are in
2. Several test results came in today for the Davenport Surname DNA Project. And it is interesting. First some introductory information: There are two tests - a 12 marker and a 25 marker. When two Davenports are tested the more markers between them that are similar the more likely they have a common ancestor. If they matched anywhere from 23 to 25 of the 25 then they are almost certainly related in the last 7-10 generations. If there is a 11 or 12 match on the 12 marker test and they both have the Davenport name then they odds are they have a common ancestor. But it is not as certain as the 25. Two individuals that are known Thomas of Dorchester were tested. One a 25 and one a 12. They more matched exactly on 12. This is good. There families split in the early 1700s at Thomas' grandsons. Now the interesting part. One individual is fairly certain he is an Albemarle Davenport from North Carolina. However he matched 24 out of 25 to the Thomas line. This is hard to ignore. For the moment on the website I moved him to the Thomas line. Another person matched only 16 of 25. There is no connection here. But we don't have other lines to compare to yet. I won't be surprised if there was a non-Davenport in his line somewhere. There were a few more results in but we don't have any matches for them yet. To see the results go to http://www.DavenportDNA.com and click on Results. Any Comments? 3. Eager to see DNA, Inc.'s report and interpretation. But in trying to bring up the their site, I just keep getting a white page (boilerplate message, "the page you want is not available" or words to that effect.) Is this just a temporary aberration?
