While returning from vacation recently I drove through Davenport, Iowa. This reminded me that I haven't seen any mention of Colonel George Davenport - the founder of that city - on this list. Has anybody looked into this family? He was born in Lincolnshire, England in 1783. Arrived in New York in 1804. Married Margaret Lewis of Cincinnati. He was eventually murdered in 1845.
