John, I wanted to share with people that in looking for my Davenport line, I found (and I can't remember where as it was when I first started) that some Devenports who came from Devenport, England, changed the spelling to Davenport because that is what most people thought they were saying anyway. Others changed it because they were iliterate and did not know how it was spelled to begin with. Now I would like to know if there are any Davenports from Kentucky or Missouri that are related to James Madison Davenport who married Sarah J. Turner. I can't get past him on my Davenport line.
