I know that of Martin Winn DAVENPORT's children Joseph Martin and George Henry had descendants that moved to Oregon. Joseph Martin DAVENPORT, b. 30 Dec. 1858 Cherokee County, NC, d. 6 Aug. 1935 and George Henry DAVENPORT, b. 2 Jan. 1851 Cherokee County, NC, d. 28 Dec. 1935 Madison County, AR The information that I have on Joseph Martin DAVENPORT is pretty sketchy and I don't know if he actually ever moved there or if it was just some of his descendants. Information that I received from another researcher from this line indicates that Joseph Martin DAVENPORT married Dora COOK, b. 28 Oct. 1866, on 7 April 1889 in Madison County, Arkansas. They had the following children: 1. Claude Cleveland DAVENPORT, b. 5 Dec. 1892, d. 28 May 1941 2. Erma Peralee DAVENPORT, m. Ralph RUSSELL 3. Minnie Lee DAVENPORT, m. Loy MCFERRIN 4. Ava Ethel DAVENPORT, m. Clarence LOVE 5. Mona Virginia DAVENPORT, m. Clarence MOORE (Note: due to possible privacy issues, I did not include dates of birth for those that I do not have dates of death.) My great-grandparents, George Henry DAVENPORT m. Nancy Louisa LEDFORD, b. 18 Jun 1857 Cherokee County, NC, d. 6 Nov. 1947 Madison County, AR, on 27 Aug. 1874 in NC (probably Clay County). Nora Bell DAVENPORT, b. 19 Mar. 1888 Madison Co., AR, d. 22 Dec. 1963, buried in Madison County, AR, married John Smith HANKINS. 7. Clercie Ann DAVENPORT, b. 18 Nov. 1890 Madison Co., AR, d. 27 Mar. 1974 Madison Co., AR, buried in Madison Co., AR, married Walter Lee SMITH. 8. Perhaps they could give additional information. -Sherryl ---------- > Angela wrote: > > If I am not mistaken, some of Martin Winn Davenport's (born in NC circa 1820) > descendants ended up in Oregon. > > Martin Winn, s/o David, s/o Martin, s/o Thomas, s/o Martin, s/o Davis. > > I believe that there is at least one "cousin" of this line who subscribes to > this list, if anyone has further input. > > Angela Pierce Groenhout >
