One of the original Davenports arriving in the United States in the 1600s was the Rev. John Davenport. He was the most well known of about a half dozen Davenports that appeared in the Boston area during that time frame. In the past 150 years much research has been done tracing John back over 900 years ago to Orme de Auceporte (or other spellings). One of the goals of the Davenport Surname DNA Project is to see if any of these early Davenports had a recent common ancestor - are they related? If a line could be connected to the Rev. John then it could also be connected to Orme. There are not that many surviving Rev. John descendants. But now we have a documented descendant willing to take the DNA test. I would like to give him some financial assistance to pay for the 25 marker test. It will be $171. Are there people out there who would like to contribute to the cause? If so - contact me privately at [email protected] Thanks Bill Davenport [email protected] Davenport Surname DNA Project Administrator >http://www.DavenportDNA.com
