I am looking for anyone who may have such a combination in his/her database. My 3x great aunt was Fanny DAWSON, b ca 1811 in Ematris, County Monaghan, Ireland, and who probably was in Argenteuil County, Canada, specifically the area known as the Gore, by 1824. I have a copy of a letter my 2x great aunt, her niece, wrote enumerating all of her aunts and uncles' marriages, and all she knew was that "Aunt Fanny married a DAVENPORT". This marriage would probably have occurred ca 1830-35, and not necessarily in Canada. Her brother, my 3x ggf, was Richard FLEMING DAWSON, and he came to the US from Canada ca 1834 and married in PA in 1844. I can find no evidence of Fanny's union to a DAVENPORT, nor even the name on censuses of that area for 1825 or 1831. Without a first name, searching in the US is impossible. There are people whom I know to be connected to me thru other Canadian DAWSONS who say she married a man named Henry HAMMOND. The problem I have with that is that there was another Fanny DAWSON born about the same time, to another set of parents. I am very reluctant to accept this HAMMOND/DAWSON marriage as that of my aunt's without proof that there is not a DAVENPORT marriage as reported by my 2x great aunt. Can anyone claim *my* Fanny DAWSON as an ancestor? Thanks, Lynn PRETTYMAN Baltimore, MD USA [email protected]
