I am reseaching my family of African American family of Northumberland, Va. My ggggrandfather came from the West Indies but not sure of of yet if he came as a slave or not. Not sure if he had the surname of Davenport. But on the 1860 census he did have the name of Davenport. Found his wife in the inventory of the Coles family of Northumberland. Sandra
