    2. Janet: Thomas Davenport, son of Martin, Sr., had only one son, namely Martin, who as a North Carolina militiaman was one of the heroes of the Battle of King's Mountain on 8Oct1780. You'll find Martin cited in Dr. Lyman Drapers, "Kings Mountain Heroes," a Revolutionary War classic (check the card index at your local library), as well as the story of how Martin's ten-year-old son William (later Colonel William Davenport of Wilkes County) was abused by the Tories (militant Loyalists) and how, in the Kings Mountain aftermath, those men were hung after drumhead justice. As to the husbands of Thomas of Martin's many daughters, I have no definitive knowledge of their roles in the Revolution, but I'm sure that there are subscribers to this List who do.
