Jack, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and all the other members. I am a direct descendant of Thomas Davenport, "The Pioneer" and William his father. So far I have not been able to determine William's ancestry so that is my focus. Unfortunately he first appeared in Flushing, New Yorkshire and all the town records burned in the 1700s. A commonly held myth is that William's parents were John & Mary Davenport of Yonkers but as a couple they did not exist but appeared due to a transcription error in the New York Genealogical & Biographical Record (Vol. 60, p 112). A review of the actual West Chester town record books (Vol. 53, p. 121) shows that the John indicated was actually William with Mary his wife.
