The Davenport Surname DNA Project has now been active for about three weeks. This is an attempt to get several male members from each of the Davenport lines to take a simple DNA test. The tests may proof whether any of the lines have a common ancestor. It may also help a Davenport with an unknown pedigree find a connection. So far we have had five individuals order test kits. Results won't be known until 4-5 weeks after the kit is returned to the lab. The five test kits went to two from the Thomas of Dorchester line, one from the Albemarle Line, and two unknowns. We have had some people offering to help finance tests for those who may need assistance.
