    1. [DAVENPORT] Orme de Davenport/Thomas of Dorchester
    2. Cuzzin Bud & others You've asked some very good questions & I wondered when someone would. The connection of Thomas of Dorchester to England was made quite some time ago, by my cuzzin/partner Butch and myself. We were helped immensely by our Warren cuzzin in England. Infact, if it weren't for him, we may never have known. Mr. Warren was kind enough to send me many documents pertaining to Davenport/Warren in England. These documents are straight out of old record books there, from such places as Stockport Parish, Bramhall Twp and Macclesfield Hundred. If it would interest anyone and is alright with Doc, I could type out these documents for the board. Also included in this info was some pictures. One is of some wood carvings at Bramhall. The other is the Coat of Arms, written with the COA is the following: "From the records of College of Arms, collated with Harl. MMS. 2119, the Visitations (Plea and Recog. Rolls, Inqs, Charters of the Leghs, of Booths, Registers, Wills, Watsons) and other evidence" As far as Orme goes: Research and history says that William was crowned on 25 Dec 1086, could you show me proof otherwise? Orme's date of birth, I've seen several, 1034 and 1066. Either of these dates, as pointed out by Winn, make Orme too old to have fathered Richard b.1136. We may be missing someone in between Orme and Richard. We are researching that possibility. Research and history also states that Orme de Davenport and William The Conquerer came together from Normandy to England in 1086. Research and history also states that the two were cuzzins, however, I've yet to see proof of that. That's all for now........cuzzin Teri

    3. Teri, Your letter below is also a response to my similar query of January 7th, copy follows: Teri. Yes, I'm familiar with the Nevada Jack site and have been reading their Davenport-L letters for some years. They too have had difficulty in linking the southern US branches to the original Orme and each of their lines seems to have appeared in the Colonies without known English ties. It was somewhat for this reason that the connection using William 17, Thomas 18, and Thomas 19 seemed almost too good to be true. As to the lineage prior to William 17 and wife Dorothy Warren [both born in the early 1560s], I have no real doubts as the record there derived from the British Library publications cannot be challenged, at least so after 1330, and their association then with Bromhall Manor as the Damport family. I will look forward to hearing what Butch has to say about all this. It is a fascinating period of English History and trying to understand it has great interest as those people were our forebearers. Regards BOB I presume now that you didn't receive this message above as I was using HTML not plain text. Anyway I was overjoyed to see your letter of today which spoke of the information you had obtained on the William 1563 to Thomas of Dorchester linkage. Certainly that info is valuable indeed in answering the question of 'where did Thomas of Dorchester come from?' I hope that you will indeed type out, or duplicate and forward, Mr. Warren's information. Can I presume that the Dorothy Warren, who married William b.1563, is a relative of the Mr. Warren you say provided the information? Fascinating!
