    1. RE: [DAVENPORT] Y DNA Testing

    3. With other males named Davenport. This will give clusters of Ys, say Y(1), Y(2), Y(3). If we are lucky, only a small number of Ys. Suppose everyone with New England Davenport ancestry (or almost everyone) has Y(1). Suppose everyone with Southern US Davenport ancestry has Y(2). This would show that just about all US Davenports came from two colonists. If all US Davenports had Y(1), it would mean that the same ancestor (in England) gave rise to all Davenports in the US. Similarly, Davenports in England could be tested to determine the number of original Davenport male ancestors in that population and if both places have the same ancestors. It will not give the names and dates of the original ancestors, of course. -----Original Message----- From: Winifred Auch [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, January 18, 2003 2:46 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [DAVENPORT] Y DNA Testing Just curious, but with *whom* do we compare this DNA? ______________________________
