Dear Friends: I am seeking any information on the Davenport family from Connecticut. My Davenport brick wall is William Davenport who was born January 8, 1816. He married Almira Sanders. William Davenport died on August 21, 1900 and is buried with his wife in Union Cemetery in East Lyme, Connecticut. Now, I know William belonged to the Montville Center Congregational Church in his elder years. I also know that when William Davenport died, the person who posted the bond as surety with the probate court was Lewis Brainard. I believe Brainard was married to William Davenport's sister who I think would be Frances. Does anyone have any information on a Frances Davenport who married Lewis Brainard or even information on Lewis Brainard? The Montville Vital Records list William Davenport's parents as William Davenport (father) and it lists only his mother's place of birth as Franklin, Connecticut. Does anyone know of any such Davenport's in Connecticut? This is a brick wall because East Lyme's Vital Records burned in a fire. Montville has records, but the details are somewhat not well kept even though Connecticut records are usually quite well kept. I know William and Almira had four daughters, Eleano Davenport who married Albert Rudd. Myra J. Davenport who married Charles Clark. According to the headstones in Union Cemetery, Charles Clark was born in 1850 and died in 1937. They were marrie in Montville, Connecticut on June 21, 1874. Myra Davenport was born in 1845 and died in 1894. Does anyone have the dates of deaths for Myra Davenport and Charles Clark? Among William's other daughters were Lydia Ann Davenport, but I have no information on her. Also, it appears from the Montville Vital Records that Julia A. Davenport was also William's daughter. She married James D. Snow in Montville, Connecticut on August 25, 1872. She died Oct. 1912, but I am not so sure that she is in deed William's daughter based on the death notice I saw. Moreover, she is not listed in the household in the 1850 census, but Lydia and Eleanor are lsited. Even though Myra is not listed in the census, she is buried next to William and Almira. Doesw anyone have any information on Julia Davenport or James D. Snow? I would appreciate anyone's help. Sincerely, Wyatt Kopp Merry Christmas all! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
