    3. I am looking for any information on Burtis Davenport family that came from Summerfield, N.B., Canada to the U.S. His father was Wallace and his mother was Jane Green and she died when Burtis was just about 9, then Wallace married Alma ? and she changed their name from Davenport to Danford due to leaving a family of her own I believe. Burtis had 1 brother Judson and a sister Maud, and a second cousin Zibe, but we were never around Zibe or his family and I did'nt even know we were related until about 2 weeks ago. Jane Green was buried on an island by the Beachwood dam, and when the bodies were removed due to the flooding of the island, Jane,s body was never recovered so still lies there by itself. Any information would be really appreciated. Gerry Texaslittletruck@hotmail.com

    1. Re: [DAVENPORT-L] EDWARD DAVENPORT
    2. Yes. I have access to the Calif State library Sutro in San Francisco. I think I have found most of the published data re the Davenport's, but never found a true connection for Thomas. He was an early Dorchester settler, and I believe one son went south to Savannah, and one to Rhode Island and a son there went to Monterey California. Probably Thomas was a cousin of Reverend John Davenport who settle New Haven and Yale college, and I know the Reverend's family line and his brothers and Uncles, but no listing of a son Thomas of any of these people. Rev, john came to Dorchester after Thomas was there, then went to New Haven. However Rev. John was highly educated, and Thomas used a sign for his Signature, so may have been illiterate but he was very successful in his life time. probably was a weaver. Steve davenport

    2. Any Southern Davenport should try to trace their genealogy back to the Davenport's who built and lived in the famous Davenport house in Savannah, Georgia. These Davenport's came to the south by way of Dorchester, Mass. in the 1600's. Steve davenport

    2. My Thomas arrived in Dorchester by 1635. He came before Rev. John of Conn. fame. I believe. Some people think his wife was Mary Forth of Plymouth. He had 9 children including Thomas killed in Prince Phillip War, Charles, Jonathan, Ebenezer, and john. I am in the Ebenizer,Ebenizer, Isaac line. Thomas may have been a cousin of Rev. John who helped organize the Mass. Bay Colony. A Thomas Dobson in a will of 1626 in London bequested money to Mrs. Mary Davenport and her son Thomas. He also gave money to Rev. John Davenport who was then minister of St. Steven's church on Colman St. London. Dobson is referred to as an uncle of Rev John. Steve Davenport
