    3. Dear Jack... I have been away, and trying to get through the backlog of messages, hence the delay in responding to this message about the Y2K efforts you and countless others made for the benefit of virtually the rest of us. I have some inkling of the long and inconvenient hours DP/IM/IT people must keep, in order to keep the systems working at what just a few years ago would have been unheard of accuracy/ dependability rates. Mostly a thankless job, but there are some of us who know what is involved. Thank you for your efforts, and for passing on Judy's well done thoughtful record of the extraordinary efforts required this past year. Bob Brooke "Jack W. 1. [DAVENPORT] A tip of the Stetson
    2. Joe R. Davenport
    3. I, too, would like to tip my Stetson to Nevada Jack and all those folks who turned away any Y2K bug there may have been. I'm a shade late on this because of a foot-rebuilding that has taken a bit longer than anticipated to get back on the one foot that didn't need the operation. As for the "Bug" my son-in-law, a risk assessor for a software firm, kept telling us that Jack and the others were ready and nothing would happen. He was so adament in his reports that our only extra expenditure was an extra six pack of soda for the bar.--Joe Bob

    1. Re: [DAVENPORT] Davenport/Headley Connection in Milton, NJ
    2. Hi Doug! Thank you very much! Yes, the descendancy chart came through just fine! I noticed that 2-John's grandson Peter married a Martha Cole. Although I know there were alot of Coles around, I found that interesting because my line moved from New York into Michigan with two other families, one John Decker and the other Benjamin Cole; and in the 1850 census in MI, a 15yr old named Sarah Cole is residing in the Davenport household, and in 1848 an Audrey Cole was a witness at the marriage of my ancestor Charles Davenport to his first wife, in MI. Do you have any info on your Martha Cole's family? Was 4-Peter known to be the only child of 3-John "Ally"? Also, do you know if anyone has done any work on the lines from 2-Nathaniel or 2-William? Thanks again for your info, it is greatly appreciated. And thanks again to Chris Strube for your original posting that jogged this inquiry. Everyone on this list is so helpful! Debbie Davenport
