    1. [DAVENPORT] Davenport/Crumpton
    2. Dan Crumpton
    3. Joy, I can't sort out all the Davenports/Devenports. I had lunch with Edna Crumpton Thomson in 1997, and she showed me the grave of Albert Pinckney Crumpton at Oak Hill Church cemetery in Greenville Co., SC. We have not been able to connect to this Crumpton line. Copy to Crumpton List and Davenport List. Sincerely, Dan Crumpton > >> -----Original Message----- > >> From: Joy S Carey <jcarey2234@juno.com> > >> To: gen@thomson.net <gen@thomson.net> > >> Date: Monday, February 14, 2000 3:20 PM > >> Subject: More Davenport questions - Dan- I just found an obituary my grandmother had saved. Lidie Boyce Crumpton (md James Talmage Crumpton) daughter-in-law of Mary ElizabethDavenport, had a Boyce cousin, John T. Boyce, who'd married Hettie Davenport. Again, these people were members of (and buried at)Fork Shaols Baptist Church. Is this one big Davenport family? Maybe that link would help... I don't have the dates on John T. and Hettie Davenport Boyce, as the obituary is not dated (cut out of the paper). They were of the generation of James Talmage, wife Lidie, and James's sister, Edna Crumpton Thompson. I also found the obituary of Mary Elizabeth Davenport Crumpton, bd 18 Mar 1874, dd Aug 1953. She was the daughter of William Davenport and Jane Roberts. She lived in Greenville County all her life, and is buried at Fork Shoals Baptist Church. I'd love more Davenport info. One more question - any relation between the two Thompsons thatmarried into the Crumpton family? Edna Crumpton married Archie Thompson, and her sister, Ellie, married Houston Thompson. Edna is currently living with Ellie's son. Thank you! Joy The above was sent to Dan Crumpton, email gen@Thomson.net

    1. [DAVENPORT] James Madison Davenport Where Are You?
    2. I know he had relatives because I am one of them and I am not alone! I am not having any luck going backwards so, let try this the other direction. James married Sarah (Sallie) J. Turner on May 18,1848 in Callaway Co., Mo. and they had the following children: York Davis Davenport Mattie Davenport James B. Davenport William Davenport and possibly a few more, but not sure yet. York Davis Davenport married Martha Minor Lansdowne on July 3,1886 and they had the following children: Everett James Davenport m. 1st Blanche ? 2nd Mabel ? Charles Albert Davenport m. Anna Ford Jesse William Davenport (my grandfather) m. 1st Flossie Putnam 2nd Vera Tunison Edgar ? Davenport m. Billie ? Ada Viola Davenport Hicks m. James Hicks Susan ? Davenport Wermer m. Harry Wermer Anna Agnes Davenport Brandon m. Frank Brandon Mary Josephine Davenport Putnam m. John Putnam If any of these names ring a bell or you think you might know something, I would love to hear from you. Note: Jesse William and Mary Josephine's spouse's were brother and sister. Other names possibly researching this line include: Turner, Rawlings, Lansdowne, Putnam, Carey, Hayden, Hicks, Brandon, and Wermer. Of some intrest, but no meaning, the name Davenport ranks 509th in the list of names found in the U.S. Martie Durbin Harris

    2. Thanks for the information on the book, The Davenports of Colonial Virginia. I will go your suggested route to find it. Concerning direct replies, you most certainly are right that they should rather be put out for all to see. To be honest, being new at this Davenport site, I have not figured out how to access it to read the replies. Thanks so much,...Jim Birkitt
