1. [DAVENPORT] We want your DNA
2. As of February 14, 2003, we have six Y-DNA test kits out for the Davenport Surname DNA Project. We are trying to get several members tested from each Davenport line to find out if there are any common ancestors. Are there any Pamunkey Davenports out there who might be interested? We also need descendants of the Rev. John Dave nport of New Haven. Any Davenport male is invited to participate. For more information go to http://www.DavenportDNA.com or contact me. Bill Davenport [email protected]m Davenport Surname DNA Project Administrator

1. [DAVENPORT] Davenport DNA progress
2. The Davenport Surname DNA Project has now been active for about three weeks. This is an attempt to get several male members from each of the Davenport lines to take a simple DNA test. The tests may proof whether any of the lines have a common ancestor. It may also help a Davenport with an unknown pedigree find a connection. So far we have had five individuals order test kits. Results won't be known until 4-5 weeks after the kit is returned to the lab. The five test kits went to two from the Thomas of Dorchester line, one from the Albemarle Line, and two unknowns. We have had some people offering to help finance tests for those who may need assistance. If any of you would like to offer financial assistance or would like to take the test and need help -- let me know. For more information go to http://www.DavenportDNA.com or email me privately at [email protected] Bill Davenport [email protected]

3. I am trying to legitimize some information that has come my way: Martha married Thomas Palmatier and bore him 16 children and they wound up in Barry County, Michigan sometime after 1855-1857. They had lived in New York (1825 NY census). In Schoharie, NY in 1830 Federal census.. lived in Broome County from 1835 to 1843 when they moved to Chemung, NY. My wanting the information is to give more history to their daughter Fanny Palmatier who married into the Snyder family I'm also checking out the Cooper family, I believe originally from Ireland before the American Revolution. I delight in reading all the history everyone seems to have and hopefully someone may know something about a farming family who migrated to Michigan. K. K

1. [DAVENPORT] Pamunkey Research Progress Report
2. jsddoc
3. Pamunkey Cousins: Research progress during the past several weeks has largely been in a better identification of the Terry-Davenport interface. All Pamunkeys who descend from Thomas Davenport, Sr., of Cumberland, also descend from Grace Terry, most likely a daughter of Captain Thomas Terry, a neighbor o Davis Davenport in King William, and later a neighbor to both Richard Davenport and Thomas Davenport, Sr., in Caroline (Upper King William before 1728). There are implications in the Terry connection which include the Evans family of Carolina, Amelia, and Halifax--a relationship which may bear on an identification of the wife of James Davenport, Sr., of Halifax, eldest son of Thomas, Sr., of Cumberland. To the nominations heretofore suggested of Dejarnett and Terry as the surname of Catherine, James, Sr.'s wife, we can now add Evans. There will be several new identifications forthcoming of Pamunkey Davenports and close relatives in Halifax and Charlotte, both grounds where previous searchers have apparently not dug long or deeply. We also have some disclsoures relative to Prince George Davenports. John Scott Davenport Holmdel, NJ
