Hi Bill I believe I am a descendant of Rev. John Davenport--most of my research leads me that way I have not actually followed most of the dialogue on the DNA project--but have a general idea about what is being done The only question I have is what is the cost? And what lab is doing the testing??? My grandmother was a Davenport from Kentucky and thru my research I believe we are decendants of Rev John So please let me know the cost and procedure and I will consider it Becky
Unfortunately, you have to be a male named Davenport for this to work. Any of your cousins fit this bill? Hello List: The first Y-DNA results are in. Just me so far so there is nothing to compare it to yet. You can get an idea of what it will look like on the Results page at http://www.DavenportDNA.com There will be more explanations with it later when there is something to explain. Eight people have ordered test kits so far. Seven are currently at the lab. Most of these should be analyzed by the end of March. Two of the eight are Thomas of Dorchester, one Pamunkey, and the last five essentially "unknowns". This is good but we need more "known" lines to compare the results to. Are there any Rev. John, Captain Richard, or Pamunkey Davenports out there that would be willing to be tested? Also some have responded positively but finances were a problem. On the front page of todays WSJ, there's an article on DNA testing aiding genealogy. Denise

Perhaps this will help in determining some relationships. Here is what I have collected from my research. Joseph Hancock, hus/o Nancy Dickenson & s/o Benjamin Hancock & Mary Beadles, John Hancock, hus/o Nancy Ann Graves & based upon preponderance of evidence, also s/o Benjamin Hancock & Mary Beadles. Nancy Ann (Graves) Hancock, dau/o Thomas Graves (Jr.) & Isabella Susannah Bartlett & gdau/o Thomas Graves & Ann Davenport & g-gdau of Davis Davenport. Nancy (Dickenson) Hancock, dau/o Nathaniel Dickenson (b ca 1721) & his first wife, Lucy ???. Nathaniel & Lucy (perhaps a DABNEY) had Nancy, John, Noten, Martha "Patsy", Garland, & Dabney Dickenson. Nathaniel Dickenson married the widow, Elizabeth (BROWN) LUCK, who had children: Austin, Sarah, Tarlton B., Larkin, Mary, & Elizabeth LUCK. I don't know the given name for the LUCK husband of Elizabeth BROWN. I don't know who the Samuel Luck is...mentioned below nor other family relationships relationships below. Tarlton B. LUCK is said to have married Crosha Cassity/Cassidy Kennedy, dau/o Charles Kennedy and Crosha Davenport. I'm not sure of Crosha's DAVENPORT ancestry. 16 Mar 1791 Hanover Co., VA Deeds: Joseph HANCOCK, William SPICER of Hanover Co., VA, Sharp SMITH, George ARNOLD of Spotsylvania Co., VA, & William DICKENSON of Caroline Co., VA was conveyed land 16 Mar 1791 by James DAVENPORT of Hanover Co., VA a 1/2 acre lot near ford convenient to the spring at corner of the lands of KENNEDY & DAVENPORT with the provision that Bishop Francis ASBURY, of Methodist Episcopal Church in America, & any of his appointees enjoy the free use & benefit of said premises. GOOD FOR YOU JANET!! I've never heard of Sarah Crosha Barnett, although it sounds like a Hanover County surname. Anybody else? Go for it girl! Carol
Hello Everyone, I am now at the NC State Archives, which in my book are heaven compared to the Library of Virginia, where I was on Tuesday...75 cents per copy printed from microfilm, which maybe you did and maybe you didn't get the page set correctly and the lighting correct. NC State Archives...you get to hold in your hot little hands the ORIGINAL documents in comfort at a table, and they copy for you and it is only 10cents a page!! Anyway, I am going throug Granville Co. tax lists re my Robertsons/Robinsons (you know the ones also related to Prince George Davenports)... And lo and behold in Island Creek District we have Joseph Davenport until late 1770s/early 1780s, then many Glovers, many Terrys (Rowland, James) and some Barnetts including Sarah Crosha Barnett. Do you all know all about these folks, or shall I look for wills, estate records. I thought having the above names (and maybe more I don't recognize together), might bolster Docs arguments on the relationships. I don't have time to check around, so don't remember if this has all been covered or not. Best. Janet Hunter
Thanks, I'll keep these names to see if they appear later in search. None do now. I just can't seem to make a tie in with NJ Davenports yet.
