Author: WWells90 Surnames: Daum Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.daum/57.63.81.83.84.85.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My g-grandmother Daum was born in Tschirn, one of four siblings (Johann, Franz, and Barbara). Johann was childless, and Barbara's children had her husband's name, but Franz left sons. I have original letters from the 1880s and 1890s. Since Tschirn today has around 600 residents, there is a good chance I am related to any Daums originally from Tschirn. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: WWells90 Surnames: Daum Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.daum/57.63.82/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My g-grandmother, Kunigunda Daum, came from Tschirn in 1881. As far as I know she came alone, and she settled in Illinois. Her parents were Johann Daum, d. 16 June 1892 and Margaretha d. 8 February 1894. This information is from original letters written by Johann to Kunigunda as well as letters from two of her three siblings, Barbara Daum Holtzman and Peter Daum. Peter Daum may have descendants still in Tschirn. I haven't researched this family except for having the letters translated. I would be interested in more information, particularly what happened to the sons of Barbara and Peter in World War I and photos of the tombstones of Johann and Margaretha. Always knew their names as being spelled as Frank Rycke and Caroline (Daum) Rycke. In breif , I know they both immigrated to U.S. around 1910. I believe my great grandmother came over with 2 sisters also. One of the sisters names may have been Magda. My Great granparents were in Pennsylvania, as I know my grandmother was born there. They , at some point, moved to the Auburn, Ny area. They had my grandmother Julia, and also Stella, Mary, and Micheal. They're all passed now, butI'm interested in family may possibly still in the Auburn area from my greatgrandmothers sisters.
