I wish i knew....All i have is my father and his parents. I know my grandfather is buried somewhere in Michigan, but no clue where. My dad mentioned a cousin "Ruby" from Michigan, but i don't know who she is. I was told once that the spelling of the name was Dougherty and my father or grandfather changed it. I have no idea if that is true or not or why they would change it. My sister told me that she thinks our Daugharty's came from Ireland to Canada to Michigan. She doesn't know where she got that info or if it's true.
