The records of the Civil War show George Washington Dougherty to have been born. in Orange co. S. E. TWP in 1838 his wife was Mary A Moore daughter of Samuel and his wife Elizabeth Moore Next door to the Moores on the 1860 census is James P. Daugherty and wife Sarah. {Ray} George married Mary A. Nov. 11, 1860. George died in Polk Co. Mo. Jan. 6, 1897. Can any one give me any information on this George Washington? Needing his parents names. I beleive that he went to be with Spicy Jane {My greatgrandmother } after her husband, James T. Smith was killed. In Clay co. Ind. and that after she died he left there by 1880. Can any one give me any additonal information on this. I also beleive that George Washington was a nephew of Spicy Jane. Dougherty she was born between 1805 and 1816 in Ind. or Ky.
