I beleive some one told me that Mr. Hazel married Ruth Johnson, census records of 1850 state he was born in 1816.{ I guess that George, Henry Or John had waited for a daughter too long. } In 1840 there are several families with a boy under 5. George Washington would have been 2 at that time. On his war record it says he was born in Leipsic. Ind. It also has 3 George Washingtons and in different units. There is a James T. Dougherty living next door to the Moores 1860 Census who have a daughter Mary A. Who is This James T. Dougherty? Where did he go? His parents are reported to have been James William b. 1801 and Isabell Smith. 1806 N.C. did they have a George Washington born in 1838 for a son??? Then the next question is Who is Hazel's Parents did he have a sister Spicy Jane? As much trouble as these people are I dont know if I can ever get the courage to keep looking for my James T. Smith After all how meny Spicy Janes are there? I hav! e looked in all 12 of the trees and lines I have. Any help will be most appriciated Mary Lou
The James living nex door to the Moores was James P. and Sarah Ray-Dougherty m. 2 Nov 1859 in Orange County. I have James as the son of James William and Isabella Smith-Dougherty. I don't have Sara's parents at this time. I don't have the children for James and Sarah as I haven't checked the 1870 census for In. I had a census index I purchased from Ancestry.com but it only had Marion County, IN. I will have to do it the "hard way" and go page by page. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morgan" <morgan14u@itlnet.net> To: <DAUGHERTY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 5:42 AM Subject: [DAUGHERTY] Hazel 1816, George Washington 1838, and Spicy Jane 1812?, > I beleive some one told me that Mr. Hazel married Ruth Johnson, census records of 1850 state he was born in 1816.{ I guess that George, Henry Or John had waited for a daughter too long. } In 1840 there are several families with a boy under 5.
