    3. Hello Did either of you Joyce or Anne Marie hear that there was indian blood in our family tree?? I have the Daws roll for the Cherokee and there is a possible connection. This is what I see. My cousins have always claimed indian blood. in 1817 there was a James and also a William Dougherty listed as living on the reservation in NC. Fact by census record both of Henrys wives came from NC. Fact in roll there are women named Catherine and Cynthia {That is only name they are LIsted by} and this whas Henrys wives names. One record I received said that Henry and Catherine named a Daughter Cynthia. Now a quistion\? comes to mind. It says in the roll book that lots of the men who had indian wives left around 1817 before the goverment could move them to the Okla land. and they sorta hid out from then on as they did not want to be found and moved to Okla. Menny passed for white in the new locations. Here is a fact. My Spicy Jane was a herb healer. and had a daughter who was also one in her own right. and daughter called her self Spicy altho her name was Martha Jane. Did either of you send for the Marriage record of George Washington and Mary Moore? Do you think we could get a Obit if he died in! 1897 there should be a record in paper. I will get in touch with the court house there and see when the records were kept and where. more later coz. Mary Lou

    3. My grandfather descended from William,d. 1773, He told me before he died that there was indeed Native American blood in the Daugherty/Dougherty line. I am assuming it is Cherokee since my line was from Virginia. My grandfather's brothers went to Oklahoma in the 20's. What you are saying about the Catherine and Cynthia may very well be true which is why it is difficult in tracing these women. Keep up the good work Mary Lou. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morgan" <morgan14u@itlnet.net> To: <DAUGHERTY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 30, 2003 6:17 AM Subject: [DAUGHERTY] our George Washington Dougherty 1838 > Hello > Did either of you Joyce or Anne Marie hear that there was indian blood in our family tree??
