I wonder if his name is really supposed to be Hazel. It is possible it is mispronounced. On the 1840 census of South West Twp, Orange Co, there is an Azar (Hazel?) 20-30 yrs. listed below a Henry Dougherty 15-20 yrs. There was also an Azar Charles and Joel Charles on this census.
