Dear Tammy, My gggg-grandfather, John Dougherty, Came to the U.S. sometime around 1790, and settled first in Maryland. Sometime around 1804, John moved to Ohio, eventually settling in the Columbus (Franklin Co.), Ohio area around 1810. John came to the U.S. (Maryland) with his wife, Mary Morris Dougherty, who died at a young age after having three children. When he moved to Ohio, John then married Nancy Ann Gatton, and they had about 11 children, one of which was my ggg-grandfather, Benjamin Daugherty.
