Surnames: Daugherty, Hill, Mills, Fairbanks Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XSR.2ACIB/1024.1 Message Board Post: I am the only one in the whole world working on my Daugherty or Dougherty line as well. To complicate the problem, I'm running into both spellings along with some strange "made up" spellings. What I know: I have a gr. grandfather named Maynard "Emery" Edwin Dougherty. He married Martha Hill, daughter of Jacob and Emma (Fairbanks) Hill, in 1907 in Kalkaska County, MI. What's unclear: M.Emery Dougherty was probably born in Gratiot Co, MI in 1880 but I can't find any documentation on that. He may have run away from home at a very early age because his father remarried someone that Emery didn't like too well. His parents may have been Albert Daugherty from Ohio and Mary Mills. What I don't know: If he had any brother and/or sisters. If I have the true names of his parents... since I can't locate a birth record. I have no dates of any vitals for Albert or Mary Mills and their names don't appear anywhere on Rootsweb Family Trees or familysearch, plus I can't find the two parents together in the 1880 census. Do the names in my family match any of the Dougherty or Daugherty, Hill names in your family? Teale tkocher@Lpsd.k12.co.us
