    3. I wonder if his name is really supposed to be Hazel. It is possible it is mispronounced. On the 1840 census of South West Twp, Orange Co, there is an Azar (Hazel?) 20-30 yrs. listed below a Henry Dougherty 15-20 yrs. There was also an Azar Charles and Joel Charles on this census. I wonder if they were related to the William Charles that Mary Dougherty married in 1811 in IN. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morgan" <morgan14u@itlnet.net> To: <DAUGHERTY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 1:08 PM Subject: Re: [DAUGHERTY] Hazel 1816, George Washington 1838, and Spicy Jane 1812?, > There was a note on from someone that said some thing about the census not > getting put down the way they go. 3. I checked the 1840 census of South East Twp, Orange Co., IN. There was a John Dougherty listed with 1 male 5 and under, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 20-30. This is the only in South East Twp that had children under 5. I don't know who this John belongs to. There were so many John Doughertys in the area. Hope the Orange County Genealogical Society can come through with some information to help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morgan" <morgan14u@itlnet.net> To: <DAUGHERTY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 29, 2003 5:08 PM Subject: [DAUGHERTY] To Anne Marie and Joyce > I have sent to the Genealogical society in Orange co. we will see if they have any thing on George W. 3. Since I was not having much luck on separating the G.W. Doughertys I checked the 1860 census for Indiana under Moore. I found a Samuel b. 1816 IN, wife Elizabeth 1814 TN with a daughter Mary A. Moore 1839 IN. Next door was James P. Dougherty and wife Sarah A. Ray-Dougherty. Now I have as parents of James as James William Dougherty b 1801 KY and Isabella Smith 1806 NC. I only have 5 children listed but I am sure they had more. I don't know if they were ever in Floyd Co., IN or not. The last child I list is Mary Jan b. abt. 1837. I don't have her place of birth right now. I don't know if this is the Mary you are looking for or not. They are listed in Fench Lick TWP of Orange County. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morgan" <morgan14u@itlnet.net> To: <DAUGHERTY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 27, 2003 8:12 AM Subject: [DAUGHERTY] Here back again need info on George Washingtons > On the Union army list for Orange Co. 3. Mary is there a Family History Center of the Latter Day Saints near you? I checked their lists of archives and they have Pension Index for the Civil War. The film is llisted as: FHL US\CAN Film 2155464 for Pension Index, Caraan - Ezzell which should take care of both spellings for Daugherty. I hope this will help. I have tried searching for Civil War info on the net and this is about all I have been able to come up with. Wish I could help more.
