According to Stafford County, VA Order Book, in Court held 10th of June 1691: 104. SAMUEL HAYWARD complaining sheweth that DAVID DARNELL stands indebted to him the sum of fourteen hundred and sixty nine pounds of Tobacco caske due per accompt for clerks fees and absented himself out of this County the plt took out an attachment against the said Darnells Estate according to Law which attachment was legally srved in the hands of WILLIAM PERKINS in this County. 105. ROBERT BRENT complaining sheweth that DAVID DARNELL stands indebted to him the sum of eleven hundred and fifty pounds of Tobacco by bill and the said Darrell [Darnell] having absented himself out of this County the plt took an attachment against his Estate..... which attachment was legally served in the hands of William PERKINS of this County Wherefore the plt craves Judg.....And Margaret the wife of David Darnell came into Court and for plea s__ nil debet which plea was overruled by the Court And now after the Court a full hearing of the matter and it appearing plainly and Evidently to the Court that there is due from David Darnell to Robert Brent the sum of five hundred pounds of Tobacco and caske Therefore tis ordered Robert Brent shall have Judgement against the Estate of David Darnell for said sum.... It seems that when David left Stafford County he was indebted to a number of people. The Judges placed a Judgement against the land which David had recently sold to William Perkins in Stafford County. Tim Ferrier
