    2. Awiusdi
    3. Hi everyone, I thought about something that could be a big benefit of everyone on the list. How about if everyone ( me included) type up a refernces sheet of any verified , copied material that we have collected on the Darnall Darnell families ,,,,figure up the cost of copying every page we have and offer it to be BOUGHT by everyone on the list???? Should I be the one to copy and send this amterial out? Or should each one of us make an effort to supply this information. Please give me your input on this, because I know the material that has been found, would not be available at everyonees hometown library. I hope I will hear from everyone on the list. Awiusdi

    3. Hi, Its been a long time since I posted a query and I wondered if anybody might be able to help me. My great, great, great grandfather, David Marsh who was born in Ohio about 1833. He married, about 1853, somewhere near Bowling Green (Warren Co.) Kentucky, a woman named Caroline Darnell. She was born in Indiana, about 1831, and had two sisters and a brother (at least). The brother, whose name I don't know, supposedly died without any children and my great great granfather (his nephew) remembered travelling to Bowling Green to pick up his portion of the inheritence in young adulthood. If he was twenty, it would have been 1875. David and Caroline had the following children: Andrew Jackson Marsh (Jan 7 1854) Edward Marsh Emma Marsh Ida Marsh John Marsh Andrew was the eldest child. Edward died in infancy. Supposedly, Caroline was slightly odd -- my great great grandfather said that she caused people to talk and his father had to keep the family moving from place to place because "a rolling stone gathers no moss." The 1880 census says that Andrew was born in Indiana, his death certificate in 1929 (filed by a third wife) says he was born in Kentucky. I haven't been able to find the family on census records because I don't know where they were. David died of swamp fever in Chicot Co., Arkansas in about 1861 (haven't found the grave yet) and the family was split up. Andrew went to live (at least between the ages of 11 and 14) with his paternal grandfather, George Tabor Marsh outside of Cincinnati and eventually became a lawyer. Caroline went to live with a married sister who had moved from Kentucky to Poseyville, Posey Co., Indiana, where she remarried (according to Andrew Marsh) "a man as no account as herself." I have not found this marriage record yet, though I've looked, and therefore cannot find her death certificate until I know her new married name. She died in Indiana, about 1900. Andrew's sister, Emma Marsh, married and had a child named Muriel before dying of pneumonia in Poseyville. Ida Marsh went to Los Angeles, California, and John Marsh went to Chicasha Oklahoma. As I said before, Andrew J. Marsh was a lawyer in Cincinnati until about 1904, when he left his wife and family, supposedly with the maid, and started a new family in Coalgate, Coal Co., Oklahoma. He died in 1929 in Amarillo Texas. PLEASE, does anyone know of a Darnell family that moved from Indiana to the Warren Co., Kentucky area before 1853? Does anybody have any Darnell folks around Poseyville, Indiana? Posey Co. is right at the southern tip of Indiana, where Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana meet. 3. Did you know that there are now 2 Darnall Darnell Forums? I wanted to tell everyone that on The Darnell Homepage there is a link to both of these new Forums. I really dont support these means because they "aquired" these surnames when the old listserver crashed. These list are not supervised by me and I rarely check them.... The Darnell questbook on the official Homepage, that is the one I constantly maintain. However there are quite a few good postings on these Forums. Has any one on the list really researched the Ark and Dove Passenger Ship lists? Or anyother passenger lists? I would really like to go farther with this line of research if anyone has available resources at there library. How about checking it out and finding out for us? My library does have only the reference books and not the other books that I need to be able to go any where with this. ANY ideas on the REUNION? what dates are good for you? what are your renuin expectations? are you interested in Managing a region for any future reunions? This year I will hold the official Darnell reunion here in Ponca City, Probally out at Lake Ponca. What do ya think? Awiusdi ( Darnell Listowner )

    1. David Darnell
    2. According to Stafford County, VA Record Book, Nicholas Goodridge, Commander of the ship "Spencer" came into Court to sue David for two casks of tobacco which David had sold him in exchange for provisions. Goodridge claimed that the tobacco was rotten and filled with ashes and sand. Capt. George Brent was appointed Goodridge's attorney in the case and a William Fitzhugh, a long time Darnell nemesis, is listed as a witness for Goodridge in the matter. The charges were made August 9, 1690. This was recorded March 12, 1691.

All persons wishing to be married had to post a bond to secure a liscense from the county clerk stating that there was no legal impediment to prevent the marriage. the clerk would then prepare the license and it would be presented to a minister who would conduct the service. I hope this helps someone out. Sheri Yates
