    1. Good Morning
    2. Good Morning, Just thought I'd share this little thought. The Fence There was a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, to hammer a nail in the back fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us.

    2. Michael Ann Coker
    3. I am looking for the family of my ancestor Mary Jane Darnell b 1825. She is shown with her husband Benjamin D. Gipson in the 1850 Franklin County TN census. Their children are Green and Elizabeth Rhyna. Mary Jane's parents may have been Charles and Patsy Darnell. Any info on them? When did Mary Jane Darnell die? Is her branch of the Darnells from MD or VA? Thank you.

    3. Barbara, In your message, you asked if the Nathan DARNALL I posted info about could be related to your Charles Co., Maryland line. I finally dug back into the DARNALL info I have and checked your web site - and the answer is yes! Only I had to go back one generation from what you posted. I took the liberty of copying the first generation from your web site: Edward Darnall b. 1671 d. 1754 Charles Co., Maryland m. Sarah Robey d. 1738 Charles Co., Maryland Children: 1. John Darnall b. 1705 Charles Co., Maryland d. 1735 Charles Co., Maryland m. Rachel 2. Edward Darnall b. 1707 3. William Darnall b. 1709 4. Isaac Darnall b. 1711 5. Thomas Darnall b. 1714 d. 1790 6. Mary Darnall 7. Sarah Darnall 8. Elizabeth Darnall The line which I am interested in <because they married 3 times into my GRAFTON family> are descended from #5 above - Thomas DARNALL who married Sarah McQUEEN abt 1735 in Charles Co.. Thomas born 1713 in Charles Co., MD, died 28 Jun 1790 in Charles Co., MD (or WVA). They had 10 children: 1. John DARNALL 2. Elizabeth DARNALL 3. Samuel "William" DARNALL 4. Isaac DARNALL * 5. James DARNALL 6. Mary DARNALL 7. Nancy DARNALL 8. Thomas DARNALL 9. Mary DARNALL 10. Nancy DARNALL Nathan DARNALL is a son of #4 above, Isaac DARNALL and Stacia McDONALD or McDANIEL. His second wife was Amelia (Mellisent)(Mitty) GRAFTON - they married July 15, 1826 in Champaign County Ohio. Two of Amelia's siblings married DARNALL's who were cousins to Nathan: James DARNALL married Susannah GRAFTON 1819 Champaign County OH, and James's sister Polly (Mary) DARNALL married John GRAFTON 1825 Champaign County OH. The Darnall information came to me from a researcher named Lanny Hochhalter, who has apparently changed her email address. She said that most all of her information came from the book: The Darnall, Darnell Family with Allied Families, Vol. 1 (there never was a Vol. 2) by H.C. Smith, M.D., 1955, available on microfilm from the LDS family history centers. Looks like we should both own the book, huh? Everyone else on the list appears to descend from Dr. David DARNALL in North Carolina? How does our Edward Darnall of Charles County MD relate to him? Or do they? I have gone through the gedcom file as well as Family Tree Maker files, but I'm still unsure of how my line goes. Perhaps the Darnell book has what I need. I do know that my grandfather, William Henry Darnell, was a son of Andrew Jackson Darnell, 1836-1893. He was married to C. L. Blalock and then to Frances A. Fox. Andrew J.'s father was David Darnell, 1811-?. According to records in the Oklahoma State Historical Building, David's father was John Darnell, 1785-?. I have not been able to determine earlier than that; however, in the line above John's name (which indicates immediate ancestor), Morgan is given. Whether this Morgan is the son of Dr. David or a later one, I haven't been able to determine. Even information at the Family History Center in Moore, OK go back only as far as David who married Nicy ? and is given as Andrew J.'s father. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thanks, Delores --------------1EE4A8402ED9B72A92F4B39D--

    3. Yep The darnell book is what you need. Your info is listed on page 378. > however, in the line above John's name (which indicates immediate ancestor), > Morgan is given. Whether this Morgan is the son of Dr. David or a later one, > I haven't been able to determine. > It does list Morgan # 2584 as the ancestor that is correct, This Morgan is Dr. Davids son ,, Morgans Son. That info is listed on page 265 The Darnell book would benefit you greatly. It is available from the author via internet. But it is 80.00 but to me its worth it. It is a huge book with all the info you could want in it. You are descended from Dr David Hope this helps Awiusdi
