Darnall's grandparents were William Morgan Darnall, born about 1759. William married Elizabeth Monroe on 12-18-1787 in Fauquier County, VA. It is believed that William was born in Fauquier County, VA, moving later to Botetourt County, VA and then to Greenbrier County, WV in 1805. His wife Elizabeth was said to be a cousin of President James Monroe. Children were Mary or Nancy, born about 1789 and died in 1882, married to a Burdett. Second child William Monroe born about 1788. Third child Morgan A. born about 1790 and died 1866. Hope this helps. Tim Ferrier --part0_913506080_boundary--

    2. We are seeking the names of the grandparents of Col. M. A. who served under Gen. Harris in the Union Army during the Civil War from VA, later WV. His father was Morgan Alexander Darnall, originally of Betotourt County, VA, later of Greenbrier County, WV (which may have been the same place, actually). Thank you for any assistance. 3. Betty I am alittle bit surprised. I can only provide what people submit to me. I have online Gedcoms for download because people want privacy. The Yahoo Club is a way for people to share what information they have, it isnt a social club. I have alot of good links and information for people to follow on the Darnells and like I said I can only put on my page, what people send to me. As far as my belief system I wont change that. I have the right as a human being to express myself in what ever way I choose. You also have the right to choose not to associate in the different aspects of my page. If you have a problem with the way the list is ran, unsubscribe. If you have a problem with me, Thats me, That is not what the list mail is for. There are alot of benefits to our Family list if people take the time to search it out and to be part of the family. Awiusdi

    1. Re: serious genealogical research
    2. Awiusdi and list members, I joined the Darnall/Darnell list for only one reason: to research my Darnall progenitors, and find verifiable evidence of who they were, where they came from, where they went and how I am connected with them and with others. I want gedcom files with notations, and information which will lead to further genealogical ivestigation. I am not interested in chat clubs, in being involved with anyone's personal belief systems or dogmas, in family reunions on-line, or in hearing about non-related family line. As far as I am concerned, this list is not living up to its potential for education and dissemination of information. I belong to several other lists which, as Doug Gordon commented, do research without a formal 'list owner' in evidence, and stay focused on the reason for the list [mainly genealogical questions, answers and discussion]. Isn't it time this list's membership focused on the reason we all came together in the first place? I hope this can be the case because I am still seeking information, and if I do not find the investigative atmosphere here, I will seek elsewhere. Betty Cowdery

    3. I have posted this before, but have heard nothing from any other Darnell researchers. If anything here looks familiar, please contact me. Seeking any information on William Darnell (Darnold?). He was drafted on 24 September 1814 for 6 months. and was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. 3. I have just received information on three Darnells owning land in KY and wonder if someone with either of the Darnell books would let me know if these 3 are mentioned therein. Information was taken from book "Old Kentucky Entries and Deeds" by Willard Rouse Jillson, Sc.D and is listed as a complete Indes to all of the earliest Land entries, Military Warrants, Deeds and Wills of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. At this time period, KY only had 3 counties, Jefferson, Fayette & Lincoln. Darnells listed: Under Fayette Co.: Darnell, Jeremiah 5,3112 1/2 A Book 3,page 124, 12/21/1783 Eagle Cr. Jefferson Co. Darnel, John 844 A Book A, page 65 5/17/1780 Pastures Lick Cr. Under "Old Kentucky Entries & deeds": Darnell & Barr 100 A Book 2 page 146 9/9/1784 Dix R Sure would appreciate any assistance on any info on these gents. Thanks. June

    2. DOUG GORDON
    3. -- [ From: Doug Gordon * EMC.Ver #3.1a PRODIGY ] -- I am going to unsubscribe from this list shortly, mainly because I have not seen any useful Darnall genealogical information on it since I can remember. Of all the Rootsweb lists to which I subscribe, this has been by far the least useful, and I'm not sure why. I hope that Awiusdi does not take this personally since I am sure that she means well, but hers are the only messages on here that I have seen for months, it seems. On all the other lists, I do not even know who the "listowner" is, and here it seems that the listowner is the only one posting anything. Moreover, most posts are content-free or about some web site or another, other surnames, religious-oriented sites, etc. This may be fine for some, but I was hoping for some more serious genealogical information about this part of my family history. Again, I am not out to flame or offend anyone, but this list is not living up to its purpose. Doug Gordon

    1. Hello from Dunnigan California
    2. Awiusdi Darnell
    3. Hey ya all We are in Dunningan California sitting in a motel room drinking coffee. We have had a great trip other than getting stuck in a blizzard and ice storm last night. We spent the night last night in our van ( which has beds in it ) and our sleepingbags and were toasty as bugs in a rug. The little restaurant stayed open all night so we had access to the necessary room, if you know what I mean. It was actuallly pretty fun and had a great breakfast before hitting the road. We ended up having to buy chains to get over Ashland Pass ( in Californina ) We will probally hit snow tomarrow also. We will be going through Flaggstaff tomarrow. We are running a day behind but thats ok. There were some pretty serious accidents on the passes but Praise God we wernt in one. We did get stuck on the ice for a bit but finally got enough traction to get going again. Traffic was backed up for 2 hours because of some semis that jackknifed. Tomarrow we will leave out of here bright and early but I will be in touch along the way. Today there were several wrecks also, at one point the road wwas full of Christmas Trees that came out of a semi that ran off the road. Hopefully we wont hit to bad of storms, Last nights was a fluke it wasnt suppose to happen but you know how that is. I appriciate your good thoughts and your prayers..
