Hi Folks, Thanks to the very much appreciated and special efforts of some very dedicated members of the Benton County Gen Society: Virginia Pafford, Hazel Craig & Ernest Sims, to name a few, we are making some inroads into the internments at the destroyed & forgotten Willow (Point) Cemetery in northern Benton County. A 1979 survey of the cemetery (below) by Ernest Sims & John Brown identified about 40 graves in the cemetery, 12 with 'texted' markers identifying the individual, 6 with markers with no ID, and about 25 unmarked graves. The identified interned in BUCHANON, FARMER & McKENZIE surnames. One marker indicates the cemetery was used as early as 1827. This early grave is NOT a McKENZIE family member, indicating the cemetery was used by other families in the area before the 1st McKENZIE family members death. Of the 40+ graves only 12 or 14 could be McKENZIEs, the remaining 25 plus are from other families in the area, and possibly affiliated with an very early CPC congregation in the area. Once the new Library is open for the inspection of Shorty Brewer's records, we should have a better understanding of who the unidentified graves may belong to. The following was published in the Benton Co. Gen Society 'Quarterly' in the spring of 1992. Please note that this cemetery, as indicated below, was destroyed between July 1979 and March 1991. <we're narrowing in>.
