Maranda Sikes b Stewart County abt 1838, dau of Arthur Sikes b Anson Co. N.C. 1794 and Sarah "Sallie" "Hixie" Gross b abt 1800 Rowan Co. N.C. , Maranda married Willis Whitford in 1872, (Willis was b 1813 and d 1894) Maranda was appx 35 years old when she married Willis, he had first been married to Elizabeth Campbell they had 8 children, second marriage to Maranda they had 2 children Sallie Ann Whitford and William H. Whitford, Maranda died 3 weeks after the birth of William. Willis then married Elizabeth Butler. This is from the Sikes/Sykes family history Book, and a part of my wifes family. Hope this helps Ira
