Folks, As a Public Service, you need to be aware of a potentially serious health problem that is developing in this country that could affect you personally, particularly in Tennessee. The Center for Disease Control reported yesterday that in the last 3 years, the number of cases of streptococcus pneumoniae bacterium that proved resistant to antibiotics has increased to 25% overall and growing. It is particularly bad in Tennessee, where over 38.3% (4 in 10) of cases are untreatable with penicillin or other antibiotics. "Streptococcus pneumoniae bacterium" is the bacteria that causes pneumonia, meningitis and other serious illnesses.
