Dear Marsha, Thanks for your reply. I, too, feel Willis must have been quite a character! The 1880 Census shows son, James, 23 yrs. old, son David, 18 yrs. old, son Thomas, 17 yrs. old (these were by first wife, Elizabeth Orton), daughter, Sallie, 6 yrs. old, son Willie, 5 yrs. old and his sister, Polly, 60 yrs. old besides wife, Elizabeth Butler, 70 yrs. old. The other five children by Elizabeth Orton had already married by 1880. We have always laughed about his first child being born in 1838 and the last one (Willie) born in 1875. He was 63 yrs. old when Willie was born!!! Of course, Miranda was only 37. Poor thing must have had a hard life. I posted a query in Henry County a few moments ago. Thanks for suggesting it.
