My grandmother; & her sister & both had kin attending the Donaldson creek upper & lower creek schools. while down home in may; my second cousin & i drove through LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES. She was able to point out many spots where various homes, families & business once stood as she grew up there. When we visited the Land between the Lakes visitors center, My second cousin found a photo of her dad posted at the visitors center. I remember visits down home with my dad when i was young. He passed away while i was little, and i am just now finding my kin there & getting a chance to re-establish the long sought after family ties, and hopefully find answers to questions that have plaqued my siblings & i for many years. The biggest being the location of my grandpa William Mac mardis/Martis grave site. It was my father's dream to see a tomb stone be erected at his father's grave. dad died in 1971 before fulfilling that wish. It is the burning desire of my siblings and i to locate this private family cemetery & erect a tombstone on our Grandfather's grave. I see your last name is DUNCAN, it is the maiden name of my great-Grandmother; Sarah Jane DUNCAN Futrell. Other surnames in my line are: Martis/mardis,Futrell, Colson,DeLoach, Griffin; Hicks. Rambling now, so i will close. look forward to participating at this site.
