    1. [DC] RE: Hudson - Hampton
    2. Lonna Jean Conroy
    3. Hi Linda, This is what I know about the HAMPTON family. The youngest HUDSON daughter, Cora (b 1857 TN; d 1939 unknown location) married Thomas Marion HAMPTON in Obion Co., TN in 1880. Thomas was born bet. 1849 and 1854 in Tennessee; d 1891 unknown location). He was the son of H. HAMPTON and Dilla ? both born in TN. Following is census information from Obion Co., TN: Source: 1860 Dist. 13: 1202. H. Hampton, 40, m, farmer, rv 2500, pv 4000, TN; D., 25, f, TN; T. M., 11, m, TN; J. P., 7, m, TN; M. A., 2, f, TN Source: 1870 Obion Co., TN Census, 0238a, Union City & Troy District 13, Family 426, Dwelling 426 lines 22-27. H. Hampton, Head of House, age 50, M, W, Farmer, value of Real Estate $4,000, value of personal estate $1,000, born TN; wife Dilla, age 35, F, W, keeping house, born TN; son Thomas M., age 19, M, W, farm laborer, born TN; son Joel P., age 17, M, W, farm laborer, born TN; daughter Mary A., age 12, F, W, born TN; daughter Ella, age 3, F, W, born TN. Also, Mary Solomon <[email protected]> 1 Sept. 1, 2000 provided the following. "Could this be the marriage for your H. HAMPTON? Hardin HAMPTON married Delia E. PIGG on 25 May 1848 in Lincoln County, TN." I think Mary is right; this is probably the same couple. Source: 1880 Obion Co., TN Census, 106-19, Civil Dist. 3, Family 166, Dwelling 166. Hampton, Thomas M., age 26, M, W, Farmer, married within the year, born TN, parents born TN, can read & write; wife, Cora, age 23, F, W, Keeping House, married within the year, born TN, parents born TN, can read & write; Hudson, Mary P., age 59, F, W, mother-in-law, born TN, father born NC, mother born GA, can read & write. (Note: Thomas & Cora Hudson HAMPTON and Mary P. HUDSON were living next door to my g-grandfather, Waller B. HUDSON. In fact it may have been Waller's land.) Living next door to Thomas Hampton in 1880 was John KILLIAN, dwelling & family #167. John was 66 years old, M, W, born TN, Farmer; no birth place listed for his parents. His wife's name was hard to read, prob. Clairadora or Christina or something like that. She was 59, F, W born TN, parents born GA, Keeping House. Hampton, William A., age 23, M, W, born TN, Farmer, no birth place listed for his parents. Also in the 1880 Census was a Richard Hampton/Kampton (hard to read) age 27, laborer, born TN; father VA; mother NC in the household of Robert P. Maxwell (Civil Dist. ? probably 8) dwelling 262 and family 265. Thomas M. HAMPTON and Cora HUDSON Hampton had two children. Burse Isabell and Tom who were born after 1881. Tom died as a child. I don't know what happened to Burse Isabell. Thomas and Cora are buried in the Antioch Union Church Cemetery, Obion County, Tennessee but I don't know where Cora lived during the last years of her life. I will check to see if I can find any other HAMPTON information and get back to you if I do. Lonna Jean >snip Subject: Re: [DC] HUDSON Date: Sun, 29 Oct 2000 00:24:18 -0400 From: Linda Hampton <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Lonna Jean, I do not have any HUDSON info but I noticed you have the surname HAMPTON listed. My husband is Donald Wayne HAMPTON born on 5-20-40 to Will and Ruby Hampton, Will's father was VanBuren Hampton and his mother's name was Ann O'Grady. Would these be any relation? I know my husband was born in Dickson Co. but moved to Nashville in 1942 or so. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
