Now What ???? > Hello, Beth Thanks for your nice note. My gr-gr-grandmother, Catherine Gray, was the wife of William O. Barger, Sr. They lived in Tippah County, MS until 1862. After the Civil War, they lived in Henderson County, TN, which was William's birthplace, and later, in the 1890's, they moved to Henry County, TN and moved west to Oklahoma during the Land Rush. We don't know who her parents were, but we have an old photograph of Catherine and William. She had long dark braids, and it appears that she was either Indian, or part Indian. There were Grays from Tippah County who were Chicasaw Indians who owned a mill and inn. I can't prove any connection, but it is an intriguing possibility. One of the hard parts of researching Grays is that there were so many of them in West Tennessee. Susan Barger Donahue
