Just a note to add a little and clear up a little. Hiram was my GGGrandfather through his son Franklin Filmore Pierce (listed below as Franklin M. Pierce). One of his daughters by Sophia Annie Caraway was my grandmother Willie Blanche Pierce Martin. After F.F. died in 1891 his widow married his older brother James Riley Pierce whose wife had passed away in 1889. They had another daughter after they were married, so the girls were half- sisters as well as first cousins. I have been searching for information on the parents of Hiram (as well as the Greer line of his wife Kizziah) for many years. Family tradition has him as being born in NC and being either a full or 1/2 Indian who took the name PIERCE after arriving in Benton County around 1840. Anybody else heard this story?
