David congradulations on your new granddaughter. It is kinda obvious you are a very proud grandpa!!! You're a lucky man! And I am loving everything you are posting. It is great reading. Jan, if you know something about the Outlaws of Stewart County, could you please add mine to the list. She is Tennessee Stockdale Outlaw. My Tennessee Outlaw married Benjamin Outlaw (b. Jan 26, 1879 d. Feb 21, 1916) He was son of Seth and Sally McCloud Outlaw who married on March 15, 1877 at the family home on Cane Creek. I believe her to be one of the Benton-Henry Co. Stockdale's since I found a grave in Stockdale Cemetery located on Lick Creek, near the Lick Creek Landing. The info said this could be either Benton or Henry County so I really am not sure where to search. This is what I got from the cemetery listing: B. F. OUTLAW 26 Jan. 1879 21 Feb. 1916 TENNIE H. OUTLAW (Mrs.) 05 Nov. 1874 25 Oct. 1957 There were so many Stockdale's in that cemetery surely some of their heirs must still be around somewhere. A distant cousin, who referred to her as 'Aunt Tennie', told me she thinks Tennessee Stockdale Outlaw was from the Big Sandy area. Unfortunately I have not been to Benton County in many years and am forgetting what was where in this area. Any info on my Tennessee Stockdale Outlaw would make my Christmas very merry indeed!!! I am also researching the following families in the Benton County area: Atchison, Lindsey, Presson, Rushing and Brewer. I am the daughter of one of the "Atchison twins'. I'm sure someone out there will remember them...Ina and Iva. I am Ina's daughter. She married Aubra Yates of McKinnon on Oct. 31,1937. My mother Ina Atchison Yates was born on June 20, 1919 and died in Carriere Ms on August 9, 1997. She is buried at Cane Creek Cememtery outside McKinnon Tn. Ina was the daughter of Charles Franklin Atchison (b. March 25, 1896 d.September 26, 1949) and Cora Ellen Lindsey (b.9-18-1891 d. 9-1-1926). All my life I heard that I had Indian blood from both sides of my family. Since I can't get a lead on who the Indian was in my Outlaw family, does anyone have an idea where the Indian came from in the Lindsey-Atchison line? I am thinking it has to be the Lindsey side but am not completely sure. All I do know is that when mama worked in the garden for any period of time, she turned the most beautiful shade of reddish bronze. I was always jealous of that since I turned into one big freckle!! Another thing I am curious about is Grandma Lindsey. I remember stories that she was one of the 'money lenders' in Benton County. I was told that when someone went to her to borrow money, she said 'Come back in a half hour'. When they came back, the money was waiting for them. As the story goes, the money was buried somewhere on the old Lindsey farm but no one ever found it after her death...and several of my cousins did try!!! Can anyone add anything to this? It would be a great story to pass down to my grandchildren if I can find anything that might confirm it as truth. Merry Christmas to everyone on the Danville Crossing mailing list and especially to all my longlost cousins that I know are out there...somewhere... Most folks from Humphreys and Dickson County are found on the Guideon Miller Rolls of the Cherokee Nation. There is also a lot of Denied appliactaions from 1900-1928 as most folks didn't have the money to go to Nashville to settle their Native American Claims. ----- Original Message ----- From: donna y. <redpepperdm@hotmail.com> To: <DanvilleCrossing-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 16, 2001 10:38 PM Subject: Re: 'Outlaw' Family of Stewart Co. > David congradulations on your new granddaughter.
