For those of you who requested a copy of Grandma Thompson's Chow-Chow recipe (sweet green tomato relish), her you have it: ½ gal. Chopped cabbage (about two and one-half) ½ gal. Chopped green tomatoes (about 24) ½ gal. Chopped apples (about 24) 1 pint chopped onions (about three large) 4 green sweet peppers 4 red sweet peppers ½ tsp cloves 1 tbsp. White mustard seeds 1 tbsp. Black pepper 1 tbsp. Beaten ginger 1 tbsp. Cinnamon 2 tbsp salt 3 lbs. White sugar 2 pints white vinegar Mix well together and cook til tender. Be careful to use apples that do not cook up easily (Jonathans do well). Put in sterilized jars and seal. Yield: 24 pints.
