    3. The walk to my Paper box: Fall is coming early to my area. The stress of the long dry, hot summer has taken its toll and the growing things...seem relieved to have it about over.... In spite of the weather, the trees seem to be trying to paint their beautiful colors... This morning, as I was walking to my box for the Sunday paper I said my usual Good Morning to my neighbors... It is twilight and the trees are alive with activity. I heard a lone squirrel barking as if waiting ... wanting another squirrel somewhere to respond so he will know he is not alone... This spring the yard was full of them... now, I would be pressed to find two. Wonder where they are? The unnamed bugs are chirping, whirring and clicking ... a sure sign that time is short.. got to have a reverie today for there may be no tomorrow. Where is my yard spider...? I am disappointed...This is the second day for it to be gone. Faithfully for about two weeks it has worked and lived in my flower bed near my back door. Like a dependable employee, it has been weaving ~at dusk~ its web to billow in the breeze above the flowers.... and at sunup it proceeds to dismantle its work and retreat to the undergrowth..... only to return at sundown to recreate the web again... very dependable spider! I wonder what happened to my big cream colored spider....? I did enjoy watching it work. My ol kitty is on the wrong side of storm door smacking at a tree frog the size of a nickel... oblivious of my cats interest .. in a distance I hear train nearing a crossing with its warning long wail... The pair of doves are sitting in the Red Bud near the feeder, cooing and waiting for me to put out their breakfast.... They are sooo beautiful.. Did you ever see a dove nest? Pitiful.. No example of engineering...! They could learn a lot from a robin! I expect that my coffee is brewed so I turn to go into the house... Just as I open the door, a big 'ol crow flys over... like a big piece of black paper blowing in the wind. With each flap of its wings...cawing to announce, " The SUN is UP! The SUN IS UP!" The short walk to the mail box is interesting... and the world is alive... Yup, my neighbors are busy this morning... makes me feel good to see them at their work.... Take a minute today and take a look, smell and listen........ it is a wonderful thing. Cher
