    2. Hello, We have had a few folks contact us lately asking permission to print our cemetery listings for their personal use, because they were unsure of why we had our listings copyrighted, so I thought I would clarify this for everyone. The information in our cemetery listings is there for anyone for personal use in their research. The permission is already written there on every listing. We even made our pages printable so that folks can print out their own copies of the cemetery listings to help in their personal research. The copyright on our cemetery listings is to keep anyone from taking our hard work and selling it or incorporating the entire listings into books/CD's/etc. for sale. The same thing would apply to any web site that requires a fee to access, because we want our information to remain available and free. As far as non-pay web sites gaining the information, we have offered links to many such sites directly to each of our listings. By keeping the information on our own pages, we don't have to re-check the listings for errors each time it comes out on another site, because it is exactly our same listings, and the responsibility for accuracy lies squarely with us, as it should. With as many links to our listings as we have already, if we had numerous occurences of each cemetery listing on this web site and that one and that one, the job of quality control would be so enormous and time-consuming, that we wouldn't have time left to do new cemetery listings. This also allows us to apply updates to the information more easily. Anyone can incorporate our data into their personal research. That is what we have done these cemetery listings for. Feel free to print our listings for that purpose. A while back we heard there was quite a scandal with Yahoo/Geocities supposedly taking over many people's genealogical websites on their server(s) and claiming they owned the data. Our copyright protects our cemetery listings from situations such as that and ensures that it will remain available and cost-free to everyone. I hope this clarifies any questions about copyrights on our listings. Feel free to contact us at any time for any reason, as we are glad to help. Sincerely, Stan Magnesen Yelowstone@aol.com
