    3. Dave, You do what God tells you to do. Just MARK THE SITE! That's the memorial. What makes us US is with God at death, but the little guy deserves a marker to let everyone know he was here, even for that short while. I'll pray for peace in your heart. 3. Dave, I've had much the same struggle----14 Aug 1968---he lived 3 hours---he's buried where my Dad will someday be. Although the cemetary has records and their plat shows where his grave is, there is no marker because my husband (his Dad) has always said it would be a waste of money to put a maker on his grave. (I've vowed to out-live my husband just so I can put a maker on the baby's grave before I put one on his!) My husband and I bought our cemetary lots when we were 25-years-old (at my insistance). They happen to be across the road from where my Dad and step-Mom will be buried---and my 1st-born son. I asked the cemetary about moving my baby across the street to be with me (wanted it done when I die so we could be buried together). I was quiet bluntly told that they probably couldn't find anything to move! I may have another option (for myself). My Dad bought 4 plots and my baby is buried in the corner of one. The cemetary folks say they won't consider that plot as "taken" so Daddy still has the 4 plots. My mother-in-law has recently decided she doesn't want to be buried in Stewart County and I full-well expect my husband to decide to bury her with "us". I have news for him! (We might have had a marriage if it hadn't been for his family and their interferance---and I'll be damned if I'm going to be buried anywhere near my mother-in-law!) My parents gave me the plot where my baby is buried so when my descendants come to the cemetary to "dig bones", they will probably find me and my son on one side of the road with my parents---and my husband across the street with his mother! My children and oldest granddaughter know my wishes and my reasons---and it's all detailed in my genealogy notes. What's the possibility of you being buried beside Thomas? (And, have you considered that Diane might want to be buried near him, too?) Put a marker on Thomas's grave and be sure to put that he was the "son of. . ." on the marker. Be sure that you tell others about Thomas--take them to his grave and tell them the story of how he died in your arms. Don't try to move him after all these years. As I was so bluntly reminded, the body returns to dust---it's the spirit/soul that lives! Sandy Ellis

    3. Anyone on the List who lives in the Chicago-Land (or mid-to-lower Wisconsin) area that would be willing to help me with the local bureaucratics in attempting to move my son next to his Great-grandmother in Central Wisconsin..???? I live in Phoenix.....have to do some local 'leg-work' which is hard from here.. If you would be willing to help...I would appreciate it... If you can't...no problem....I understand....It's a small matter.. Spoke with my mother and aunts over the weekend...they agree...they would like Thomas next to their mother... Local Church and state bureaucratics are another issue... Wish to thank all of you who responded....Jan was correct...already knew the answer...which you confirmed with your thoughts. I am of Scandinavian origin (one generation removed), and have heard over the years an ancient saying (which I did not understand at the time, but got repeated to me again over the last few days from my aunts (tuff women, they are)...and am beginning to grasp it's meaning now): Low, there do I see my Father, There do I see my Mother, my Sisters & my Brothers. Low, there do I see the Line of my People, back to the Beginning. They call to me. They bid me take my place among Them, In the Halls of Vallhala, where the Brave may live Forever. Apologize if I have offended anybody with the introduction of a culture foreign to the group.... If you would be willing help me take Thomas home...I'd appreciate it... Dave

Those needing hotel/motel accommodations will need to make them in North Knoxville. **STATEMENT OF INTENT** This is an open invitation to attend the 2nd annual homecoming/reunion of our pioneer families that settled, lived, raised their children, and sometimes died in this area. Some sank deep roots and others moved on, scattering our ancestors from coast to coast. Our purpose is to have fun, get acquainted, and swap genealogical information. The above is a list of the families which we know for sure had ties in early East Tennessee and the ones we have some information on. However, if you have a surname that you wish to add, please contact Terri Brown Jurca at <CousinsCom1@hotmail.com> or Carl Coffman at <CousinsCom2@hotmail.com>. All we ask is that you be willing to act as host or hostess/greeter for your surname and to share whatever info you have available. ALL surnames are welcome to attend whether your name is listed here or not! There will be a wealth of information to share. Plan on attending please! We would love to have volunteers for all the names on the list (except Brown and Coffman, which we have well-covered) to act as co-hosts/co-hostesses to greet and help people with their surname feel welcome and to help them meet researchers working on the same surname. To those of you with East TN roots who don't have much extended family and therefore don't have a reunion, this is your chance to bring your immediate family members and join ours. We want everyone to have fun, feel welcomed, and enjoy themselves. **That's What Tennessee Stands For: THE VOLUNTEER STATE ** "Where pride walks and the flag flies!"** We know that we have some college instructors attending who perhaps can be persuaded to speak. We also have experts and accredited genealogist who have been researching for 30 plus years. A chair or blanket to sit on...If you are serving as a host or hostess, you will also need a small table (card table size or larger) to display your family information on. -------------------------- Last year was our first attempt to pull all these early settlers' descendants together. As far as we knew, it had never been attempted before. It was a resounding success for a first attempt, and it was agreed that it should become an annual event. This area is so very rich in history, both as an Indian frontier and as an isolated jewel of Union sympathy during the Civil War. It also served as a departure point for westward movement and new settlement. Our ancestors left us a rich heritage, which we are striving to preserve and pass on to our children and grandchildren. This rich tapestry of ideals and values is what made us a great nation and what made each of us what we are today. And it began with our earliest immigrant ancestors who came here to start a new life and a new country. COME and SHARE that heritage with us on July 13-14. We are looking forward to making many new friends!! Sincerely, Terri Brown Jurca: <CousinsCom1@hotmail.com>, 5509 Paula Rd., Knoxville, Tn 37912 Carl Coffman: <CousinsCom2@hotmail.com> 1448 S.
